Wellbeing Hub

The Wellbeing Hub at Sebastopol Primary School is a dedicated space designed to support the social, emotional, and behavioural wellbeing of our students. It provides a safe and supportive environment where students can regulate, reset, reflect, and build the skills needed to successfully engage in learning.

The Hub is built around a range of purposeful wellbeing zones, each designed to meet different student needs:

  • Mindfulness: A calm space where students can use sensory tools, mindfulness strategies, and calming activities to manage emotions and return to a regulated state.
  • Chillout: A designated quiet space where students can regulate emotions, reduce stress, and recover from feeling overwhelmed before returning to the classroom.
  • Sensory: A tactile, engaging space designed to support sensory processing, reduce anxiety, improve focus, and help students feel calm and settled.
  • Fine Motor Skills: A focused area where activities build concentration, independence, confidence, coordination, and control, supporting the development of important skills for everyday classroom learning.
  • Big Body Movements: A breakout space that allows students to release built-up energy, reduce stress, and regulate emotions through movement, creating positive mind-body connections.
  • Social: A collaborative space where students can practice communication, cooperation, and problem-solving skills, strengthening relationships and building confidence in social settings.

The Wellbeing Hub plays an important role in helping students develop emotional literacy, resilience, self-regulation, and positive coping strategies. By supporting students to understand and manage their emotions, the Hub helps reduce barriers to learning and improves engagement, focus, and classroom participation.

By prioritising wellbeing, Sebastopol Primary School supports students to build the confidence, independence, and emotional skills needed to achieve their personal and academic goals. We know that when students feel safe, supported, and understood, they are better able to learn, grow, and thrive.
